City Rock Ice Festival 2016

Alex Gauthier

This weekend was the 2016 Ice Festival at City Rock Climbing Gym here in Colorado Springs. It was a pretty awesome event with some top notch pro climbers showing up to compete as well as some of the strongest locals competing in both the citizens and pro comps.

The sponsors of the event all had some great stuff going on at their booths and the raffle for the event was pretty much off the hook. Bonus: the raffle money went to support Paradox Sports.

Our Sweet Contest!

We hung out most of the day and hosted what turned out to be a crowd pleasing contest at our table. You can check out the video below but the task was to submerge your dominant hand in ice water for a minute and a half and then get into a figure four on ice tools to hang as long as possible. Each participant was entered into a drawing for a set of brand new CAMP X-Dreams and the person with the longest hang time was given a #2 Ultralight Camelot from Black Diamond.

All-in-all this was an excellent competition with strong attendance and a community vibe. Highly recommended!

Winner of Camelot
Greg had the longest hang time of 1:13 which scored him the BD #2 Ultralight Cam
